Had a great day. We spent an hour at the Ministry of Health and met various officials who welcomed us to The Gambia. A press release was sent out to encourage as many people as possible to attend the clinics, it worked!
Then onwards to the Regional Eye Care Centre. We all split up to to work with various Gambian professionals. Lindsay Bater spent a busy day with the refractionists, three of them in the same room meant the light switch got plenty of work! Suzanne Martin and Cheryl Madeira-Cole presented the equipment brought from Wales and demonstrated its use. Stella Elliott worked with the paediatric triage nurse and spent time looking at the overall running of the clinic. Various bits of broken kit were photographed to show Med Phys on our return. David Laws saw lots of children with a variety of problems, many of them unfortunately irretrievably blind but others we hope to help.
