On Saturday 9th October The Gambia-Swansea Vision 2020 Link held a fund raising Barn Dance at the Village Hall, Reynoldston, Gower, Swansea. A large crowd of all ages attended and enjoyed the excellent music provided by “Roots and Galoots” a local Bluegrass band. During the evening the caller, Roland Emmanuel put the guests through their paces as everyone learnt how to execute the dances in hilarious fashion. The dancing stopped for everyone to enjoy the huge portions of piping hot fish and chips which were delivered during the evening by The Seafarer at Port Eynon. Refreshments were sold by Cheryl and Charly Madeira-Cole who had worked hard in providing a variety of beverages for the bar. At the end of the evening those lucky enough to win a raffle prize were delighted by some excellent gifts donated by local businesses and supporters of the link including a night for two at the Oxwich Bay Hotel. The event, which hopefully will become an annual event, raised £640 for the link which will be used to support the continuing education programme at the Sheikh Zayed Regional Eye Care Centre in Banjul.
