The Gambia – Swansea Vision 2020 Eye Link

The Gambia Swansea Vision 2020 Link has recently been fortunate in receiving a Seedcorn grant from THET The Tropical Health and Education Trust. The money will be used to further the aims of the link in establishing the partnership in health promotion including patient care, public health, service delivery, teaching, training and research between the two countries. In particular to support paediatric ophthalmology and glaucoma during the first year of the link.

In December Cheryl Madeira-Cole and Suzanne Martin members of the Swansea Steering Group were lucky enough to be invited to THET’s 20th anniversary reception dinner in the House of Lords. The day was a wonderful experience and an ideal opportunity for Cheryl and Suzanne to meet a host of people associated with other links. Suzanne explained “we met many interesting people both within THET and linked to it. It renewed our enthusiam and gave us many ideas on how we could progress The Gambia Swansea Vision 2020 Link”
