Sue Williams and Suzanne Martin  attended the latest Wales for Africa Health Links meeting held at Morriston Hospital, Swansea on Thursday 17th January. The Health Links network aims to bring together the NHS and public health links in Wales to share experiences and work together. Regular meetings are held at different venues across Wales. President of Swansea Rotary Club, Andrew Bellamy donates a cheque for £750

At a recent (June 2011) meeting members of the Rotary Club of Swansea heard from Stella Elliott and David Laws of the links established between the Eye Department of Singleton Hospital, Swansea and the Regional Eye Care Centre in Banjul, Gambia.

As a result the outgoing President of Swansea Rotary Club, Andrew Bellamy, decided to donate a cheque for £750 to help fund training for an Optometry Technician in Gambia. This would be the first post of this kind in the Gambia, and the funding provided would be matched by a similar contribution from the local Rotary Club in Banjul.

Mammoth ‘End to End’ charity bike ride!

At the end of last year, Garry Merrell from the Sensory Services Team at Morfydd House and his brother, Martin,  cycled the length of the UK to raise money for charity.  They both cycled 1060 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats in just ten days and raised over £900.
