The Gambia – Swansea Vision 2020 Eye Link

In 2010 a link was established between a boys football team in The Gambia and one in Rhos, a small village near Swansea.

Musa is one of SZRECCs’ hardworking support staff who drive the Swansea team to work every day during our Links Visits (I’m sure he works hard the rest of the year as well)!!!

The football link started because of coincidences and similarities between Musa and Sue Williams’ partner Paul Collier – they are both involved with training local youth football teams.  Musa’s team were desperate for new football kits and training equipment.  So, after the Swansea team’s visit in 2010, Sue’s son Chris decided to ask his team mates at Rhos AFC to donate their old football kit and training gear to Musa. The Swansea team also donated footballs to the Gambian/Senegalese boys.

As you can see the team look very smart in their new kits!  This link was an unexpected bonus to the already rewarding work that we do with our Gambian staff at SZRECC.
