The Gambia – Swansea Vision 2020 Eye Link

This year’s charity quiz was a runaway success raising a total of £946 which was more than any previous quiz. The money will fund future visits to The Gambia to continue the staff education programme at the Sheikh Zayed Regional Eye Care Centre and provide necessary equipment.  Over sixty people took part in the quiz which was led by our usual knowledgeable quiz master, Andrew Martin. He asked a wide range of questions with different themes including sport, music and general knowledge.

There were seven teams with such witty names as Julbrew, The Little Team and Oxtail Soup all competing for a prize. After six tense rounds the Usual Suspects were the runaway winners with a final score of 59.5! They shared the first prize of a food hamper whilst The Little Team came last with 29 points but went away with a packet of chocolate fingers!

Paul and Caroline ran the bar during the evening and Cheryl and Charly provided the half time food. This was up to their usual high standard and included a platter of cheese, pate, fresh bread and grapes. There was a variety of raffle prizes which had been kindly donated by friends of the link and local businesses. They included a gift voucher for a local beauty salon, two necklaces from The Gambia, a candleholder and cookery book.

Everyone agreed that they had a great time and were looking forward to next year’s quiz! Thanks to everyone who supported the evening.
